Amigurumi Baby Panda

I totally forgot to post about this little guy that I finished a couple of days ago. I got hooked playing on my DS and forgot. :P It's my little amigurumi baby panda and I enjoyed making it although it was fiddly at times. :P

This little critter is up on my etsy shop here.

Sims Castaway completed. :)

Nothing to do with craft but.... yesterday I completed Sims Castaway on my DS. :) It took me much longer than it should have to finish but then I've been so busy lately with the crochet and trying to learn that I've not picked it up as much as I'd liked. Still I really enjoyed the game. I think some might find it frustrating and repetitive if you're more into the action side of games. I enjoyed completing all the tasks.

I could still carry on and collect everything, craft everything, grow everything etc etc but I'm not one of those people that has to complete everything 100% especially when I have other games waiting to play. Nope, I'm happy completing the story part. :)

I've now picked up Diner Dash and didn't know what to expect but I'm loving it so far. Simple but fun. Yes it's repetitive and can get manic at times but it's strangely addictive. I'm feeling such a pull to pick it up and play again today. :D

Snow!

I've woken up to snow! Proper snow that settles!

Yesterday was a mixture of wind, rain, snow, sleat, hail and sun all rolled into one day! Madness!

But today all I've seen is snow. The kittens seem to like watching it out the window.

P.S. HAPPY EASTER!

Amigurumi Monkey

For a little while now I've been working on another amigurumi project, this time it was a monkey for my boyfriend as he likes monkeys. :) It seems to have taken me aaaaaaaaages to do but then there's quite a lot of work gone into making him, mainly because his arms, legs and tail are so much longer than the previous ones I've made.

I'm pleased with it though and think it came out ok. I love the part when you put together all the limbs and it really starts to come together and take a personality of its own.

I'm really enjoying crochet though and glad I decided to take up the challenge of what seemed hopeless to me before I tried. :) I'm now looking forward to my next project and a change of wool colour, heehee. :D I have drawn out sketches of some designs and I'm looking forward to bringing them to life.

Etsy Front Page!

Oh wow! I just woke up to a lovely surprise! One of my items is on the front page at etsy! :D This is a first for me and it's so cool to see it there before it disappears to a new treasury selection. :D It's my Discombobulated Bob Cat which was featured. The treasury was called In the RED and was created by CuriosityKilled. I'd also like to thank the lovely Kala for getting a screen shot so early in the morning. :) What a nice start to the day!

Etsy Treasury - ....BOIIIINNNG!....

I wanted to thank the lovely Kala for featuring my Chick Pin in her lovely ...BOIIINNNG!... spring themed treasury. :) I think she has made a very pretty selection. :) I especially like Rosa the Rose Pink Bunny made by feltmeup - it's so cute!

Etsy Treasury - Aliens vs Robots

I found myself in this really fun Aliens vs Robots treasury created by MariaSoleil. Love the items in it and am chuffed to see my Pink Blobble featured in it too. :)

My second crochet project...

Aw I finished my second crochet amigurumi project this afternoon and just taken some pictures of it although it all got a bit chaotic. :P This time it was a hamster pattern I followed and it went pretty smoothly. :) Quite enjoyed doing this critter. Think it was easier so maybe I should have started with one instead of the elephant but nevermind.

Here's Hammie the Hamster. :) He was just sitting there minding his own business happy to be alive and finished with all his limbs sewn on when suddenly.......

A big furry thing going by the name of Hiro came walking up. Hammie froze not quite knowing that to do. His heart was beating fast..... Hiro gave him a good sniff but then carried on about his business and walked straight past him. Hammie breathed a sigh of relief but to his horror it wasn't over yet........

Hiro's brother and partner in crime Ando had spotted the little hamster and moved in for the kill before poor Hammie had a chance to scurry away. Eeek! It was a rush to save Hammie but we got to him in time and he was fine.

No hamsters were injured during the making of this blog post!

Meet Wonky the Elephant

Not long ago I posted that I had been trying to learn how to crochet so I could have a go at amigurumi style critters as I really loved it, some of you will remember anyway. Well I finished my first ever project a couple of days ago. I almost didn't as it looked silly to me but the other half said I might as well, and I did say I'd finish it no matter what.

It's ugly, wonky, messy, deformed but hey...... I shouldn't be too hard on myself as a couple of weeks ago I didn't even know how to crochet. :P I'm pleased I did it though as I've learnt a few things to hopefully improve on for future projects and that's what I hoped to achieve.

It probably wasn't the easiest of things to start with either, most people start with a scarf or something and I start with an elephant. :P

trunkt.org

I had a nice suprise last night as I got an email accepting me on trunkt.org. For those who have no idea what I'm talking about Trunkt is a website based in America that "brings art shoppers, specialty retailers and independent artists together to do business."

It's free to submit a portfolio so I thought why not? I have tried before to get in but have been rejected but thought I'd try again and to my surprise last night I was accepted. :)

Here's my portfolio:
www.trunkt.org/cutedesigns

Because I'm only on a basic free account I can only list three items which seems very limited. :/ But who knows? Maybe in the future I'll pay some money and upgrade so I can list some more of my stuff. Just nice to be seen in another place.

The "magic ring".

I felt accomplished last night as I succeeded in learning the "magic ring" in crochet. :D In my book it gives you the easier way of starting off with chain a few stitches then single crochet into the middle which is very easy to do but sometimes it has left a hole in the middle when I've been working on my practise project. Being the perfectionist I am this wasn't good enough. :P

So I sought out the "magic ring" and have tried to learn it on odd occasions. I found a video but sat there and was like, "huh??" after it. :P Found a picture guide but couldn't do it from that. Browsed last night and found another guide and this was the one! Managed it! Woo hoo! So I shall try using this from now on - it's very clever!

I was tagged.

Yesterday I was tagged by KMC Designs so I thought I'd join in with this, I don't often get time to do these things. I won't be tagging back though as I don't like "forcing" people to do this stuff so if people want to do their own then feel free. :) These were the rules:

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

1. I am in the Dennis the Menace fanclub.
2. I once dressed up as Kermit the Frog on stage in front of a couple of thousand people.
3. I am scared of dogs.
4. I love pasta!!!!
5. I dislike Wednesdays.
6. I don't like tea or coffee, just the smell of them makes me feel sick.
7. I was madly in love with Michael J. Fox back when I was about 12.

Thanks. :)

Just wanted to say thank you for the nice comments some of you left about my last post - the learning to crochet one. :) It's nice to feel motivated.

I'm still plodding on with my first project, doing a little in the evening although I'm out tonight which is a shame as I'm almost finished. :P It's looking a little deformed and not as nice as it should but I'm still making myself finish it. I'm such a perfectionist but I have to be patient with myself on this one.

A new challenge.

I thought I'd tell you about the new challenge I set myself a couple of weeks or so ago now. For some this will probably seem like such an easy challenge but for me it seemed like a mountain to climb. :/ I feel a little shy in talking about it incase I fail miserably but this challenge was to teach myself how to crochet.

To give you a bit of history I have tried a couple of times in the past to learn knitting. I think you can make some really cool stuff with knitting. My mum can knit, she's tried to show me and I can do the most simple stitch, I do row after row, I end up dropping stitches, adding them, lol. Not intentionally of course but it just ends up a mess. I get bored I suppose. I dunno. Knitting or crochet just seem a bit alien to me, they don't feel natural whereas cutting out material and sewing it together or picking up a paintbrush does. I'm also not very good at following instructions or patterns, I lack concentration which is another struggle I have learning new things so I really was feeling quite negative about learning crochet.

I so want to be able to crochet! You see my main motive is that over the last few months I have gradually but totally fallen in love with amigurumi. I love it! At first I used to wonder at them, look at them lovingly but never in my mind did I think I would ever attempt it due to my lack of skills in that department. But every now and then I'd see written down, "but crochet is easy". Hmmmm....... easy for you maybe but you are not me!

But a couple of weeks ago I did the unthinkable and made up my mind I was going to try. I got a crochet hook, found my disregarded knitting wool and tried and tried and tried.............. guides on the internet, books, pictures, videos on the internet........ now it hasn't been easy for me but I have found it more enjoyable than knitting. Don't really know why though.

So at this moment in time I am in the process of creating my first ever crochet piece which also happens to be my first ever amigurumi critter. It's the first time I have ever tried and stuck at following a pattern. I've told myself no matter how badly it goes to finish it right to the end from start to finish and to not be too hard on myself...... practise makes perfect right? I shall be doing some more on it today, I only started it yesterday.

Wish me luck on this challenge - it's not an easy one for me but I so want to get there! :/
