Custom Amigurumi Hamsters

Made to Order Custom Amigurumi Hamsters
I was busy over the weekend crocheting a little group of hamsters as I wanted to give a few examples of how they look to offer custom orders. :)  They make me smile and look cute hanging out together.

So yeah if you're interested and you want your little hamster made up as one of my amigurumi sculptures then check out my etsy shop for a bit more information. :)  Each one comes with it's own ACEO lovingly drawn by me too.

Poppet the Amigurumi Hamster

Poppet the Amigurumi Hamster
Meet Poppet.  I finished crocheting her last night after tweaking an old pattern of mine to make something new. :)  She's a cute little Hamster looking for a new home. She admits to having a bit of a sweet tooth which can make her a little hyper but she hopes you won't hold that against her.

Poppet can be adopted from my etsy shop here. :)

Look what the rain made me do!

Even in the Darkness We Still Go Searching for the Light
It's been such a dark, gloomy and rainy day today.  Really dark.  It felt like I shouldn't be awake and should be tucked up in bed.

Well anyway I thought it could be a good time to paint and I was in the mood so I put on some Muse and painted this little watercolour.  It's a vampire as I love vampire things and it's seeking the moonlight in its dark world.  A dark painting for a dark day. :)

It's all about the bears!

Woodland Bears watercolour
It seems to be all about the bears for me at the moment.  I've been painting this watercolour. Back to my outlines again although I haven't ruled out trying without them again. :)  I enjoyed painting this as I love woodland scenery and toadstalls and became quite fond of the baby bear's expression looking up at me as I was painting. :)

I'm also currently crocheting a bear so will post a picture of that once I have finished it too.

Very bad watercolour alert!

Love Blobites
I thought I'd try something a little different with my latest painting project and take away my black outlines and try and paint without them.  Oh my god, I found it tricky, it was weird and like I couldn't paint.  Meep!  I finished it but I have to say I didn't enjoy it as I just wasn't pleased with the result but I thought I'd post it as you have to see the bad as well as the good to improve, right? :)

By the way this is a painting of my little Amigurumi Love Blobites that I crochet sometimes, I thought they'd be an easy thing to start with but they weren't. :P  I'm not sure painting without the black outlines is really me, I might try something else though and see how I get on, or put the lines back. :)

The Hunger Games watercolour

Katniss Everdeen
Some more inspirational fun yesterday afternoon painting the lovely Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games.  She was quite challenging for me but I enjoyed it and had fun.  I love The Hunger Games and was so gripped on the books, I couldn't put them down - love the film too. :)

"What ya drawing, mommy?"
Me and my cat Hiro need to have a talk about space issues methinks.  This was me starting out sketching Katniss yesterday and well, it's a little off putting being observed so closely when you're trying to draw! :)

Alice in Wonderland watercolour

Alice in Wonderland
So here's another watercolour I finished yesterday - Alice in Wonderland this time. :)  I really enjoyed painting this and relaxing to music too.  (New Muse album which I'm playing non-stop right now).  I loved putting in the little white rabbit hiding behind the toadstalls too.

I love woodland themes so felt really inspired with this one and I think I'm starting to look forward to using watercolours now.  Will have to think what to paint next....

Harry Potter watercolour

Close up
Ron, Hermione and Harry
OK so this was my biggest watercolour challenge so far, not only because it was using watercolour paints but drawing people too which are not my strong points.  But I love Harry Potter so decided to try the trio in the hope I'd concentrate and do them justice. :)  I'm pleased with it, I don't think I could have done any better and they were fun to paint.

Amigurumi Mini Monsters

I have been having fun crocheting some of my Amigurumi Mini Monsters. :)  These guys make me smile and look like they have something they want to tell you!  They've been getting up to all kinds of mischief too.  My Mini Monsters have all different kinds of personalities, characteristics, moods and interests. They can be found in all different colours too.

These little guys will be up for adoption at my etsy shop. :)

Watercolour doodles.

Little Witch Girl
Years ago I loved painting and used to paint a lot but then never seemed to have the time.  On and off I've been trying to pick up watercolours which is a real challenge for me.  It was acrylics I enjoyed using before but I thought I'd try and give myself a challenge, just for fun.  I've also always had a fear of drawing people and much preferred animals. :)  So as well as the watercolour paint challenge I'm going to try and add in some more human type doodles too.

So kicking off my new project today is a little Witch Girl I drew and painted with Halloween in mind and also this little Unicorn.  Well, can't be human all the time, right?

Little Unicorn
I feel a bit clumsy with watercolour and don't really know what I'm doing but I'm enjoying it and that's the main thing.  I'll post more pictures as I finish them. :)  I know there's techniques etc but sometimes I think it's fun to just get stuck in and find your own way.

New Amigurumi Voodoo Dolls

Big Baby Ben

Flame
Oscar
I officially suck at blogging. :P  I didn't realise it had been so long again since my last post when I held the giveaway.  So I'm going to try again to be better, I guess I'm just not much of a blogger but I can at least share my new creations if nothing else.  I have a whole backlog so thought I'd start with my Amigurumi Dolls and here are the new boy dolls.  They can all be adopted at my etsy shop except for Big Baby Ben who already found a home but follow the links to Flame and Oscar. :)

A Little Giveaway! :)

I woke up this morning to discover I'd reached the 700 sale mark in my etsy shop. :)  It was such a nice feeling and one I never expected when I opened my little shop, I just wanted to make and share cute things. :)

So as a thank you I am having a little giveaway here on my blog.  You can see from the piccie above that includes an Amigurumi Rainbow Blobite, an Amigurumi Blue Bat, Blobite stickers, a Love Blobite notecard, a The Blobites Have Landed notecard and an original Marker Doodle drawn by me inspired by the giveaway. :)

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning this little bundle is to have a look at my etsy shop and tell me what your favourite item from my shop is, and if you could have one thing crocheted for you what would you like it to be?

I'll be picking the winner at random at midday on Sunday 3rd June 2012.  Please tweet it and share it.  Only comments here on my blog will count as an entry.  Good luck and don't forget to leave me an email address so I can contact you if you win.. :)

Little changes...

Amigurumi Sleeping Hamster Squishlings
I've been really busy creatively lately, I guess that's why I haven't posted so much on here but I wanted to mention a bit about a little change of direction for my future creativity.

At the start of 2012 I got a nice new set of lovely pens for Christmas, got myself a new sketchbook and wanted to draw more.  I've always doodled as most of my amigurumi designs start off as a sketch on a piece of scrap paper but I hadn't really drawn much for years other than that.  I used to love it.  When I was about 9 I wanted to be a cartoonist and I think I still have some of my sketches of all my old cartoon characters I designed back then.  But when you don't do something for a while you can lose confidence in your ability at it.  And for that I'd like to give a special mention to the lovely kittypinkstars for the enthusiasm and encouragement to doodle and draw again.  I love it, I can't get enough of doodling now, haha. :) It's great to be doodling, colouring and creating on paper again.

So that would be a reason behind one of the little changes in my work over the last few months.  I have created a new range called "Squishlings" which I will post about properly another time.  These started out as doodles on paper, then became litle amigurumi plush and I am now making little felt pin badges and drawing matching stickers to go with them.  I love felt!  Besides yarn it's my other favourite material so I'm happy to be using felt again as well as drawing. :)

There are a few reasons behind it but I suppose one being that some of my creations I have been making for over four years now and I feel like it's good to have a change.  I'll miss many of my old designs because once they're gone from my etsy shop I don't plan on bringing them back..... but never say never, right? :)  That's a strange feeling.

I love making my Voodoo Dolls, they seem to have their own little character and personality when I'm making them so for that reason they will all in the future be one of a kind collectables.  I am also working on another range which will also be one of a kind collectables.

I'm looking forward to going ahead with these changes and hope you'll enjoy them also.

Amigurumi Unicorn

I realised I haven't updated my blog for ages!  Naughty me! It's not because I haven't been making new stuff, far from it.  I've made lots of new things lately but I suppose with trying to update my website, etsy, instagram, facebook, twitter etc I sort of forgot about my blog!

So I'm going to try and update with all my new things and I'm starting with my Amigurumi Unicorn. :)  I'd been wanting to make a Unicorn for ages so it felt good to finally get there.  It can be adopted from my etsy shop here. :)

Introducing Plush Pin Pals

The original idea behind my Pin Pals was to offer little friends to go with my Amigurumi Voodoo Dolls but people seemed to like them so I thought I'd offer them seperately. :)  They can be adopted at my etsy shop. :)

Voodoo Doll meets Voodoo Doll
I've not been short of ideas so far making these little plush, they make me smile and I have plenty more doodled on paper that I would like to bring to life also. :)

Meet Vincent the Voodoo Cat

Meet Vincent - the Amigurumi Voodoo Cat. :)  He's a little present for myself.  It occured to me that I don't make anything for myself, all those cute critters but I'm pretty strict and don't let myself get too attached so they can be adopted.  But this time I wanted to make myself a Voodoo Cat friend and along came Vincent. :)

He might pop up from time to time helping me with my creative stuff and iphoneography but so far he's settling in ok and getting on well with my other two cats Hiro and Ando.

Amigurumi Mini Monsters

Amigurumi Mini Monsters have all different kinds of personalities, characteristics, moods and interests. They can be found in all different colours too.
Cuthbert
Cuthbert is a bit of a gloomy Mini Monster and often feels left out of things.  He likes looking at the sky and finding objects within the clouds.

Rosie
Rosie is a bit of a flamboyant Mini Monster and can sometimes be a handful.  She enjoys chewing gum and blowing bubbles.

Bunnies! Bunnies! Bunnies!

I'm having such a fun time at the moment making my little Amigurumi Voodoo Bunnies.  They're just so fun and my aim with these and all my Voodoo Dolls is for them to be a little odd looking, creepy with the voodoo but still make you think  "cute!"  I hope I'm achieving it.

My bunnies have been receiving some lovely comments so far so I'm excited to carry on making more of these little guys and getting them up for adoption. :)

More Amigurumi Voodoo Dolls

I was asked to make a couple of Amigurumi Voodoo Dolls as a custom order. I've been making a few voodoo dolls over the past few months and love making them so it was nice to take on this custom order. I enjoyed making these two. Melvin and Matilda their names are (chosen by the customer) and I think they're too cute. :)

I've also had Voodoo Bunnies on the brain and just finished a black and purple one earlier too which I've become quite fond of. :)

Amigurumi Kawaii Serenity

A belated Happy New Year to you!  I realised I haven't updated my blog for a while although I've been very busy on the creative front. :)  I've been making new designs and also catching up with some old favourites and getting them back in stock.

I thought I'd introduce my Amigurumi Serenities today. These are little creatures who pride themselves on their calm and harmonised natures. They like to bring peace to their surroundings.  They can be adopted from my etsy shop and are available in Cream, Green, Blue, Peach, Grey, Pink and Purple.
